Saylor’s $40 Billion Bitcoin Bet Could Propel Strategy to the Top Public Company, Analyst Predicts
Strategy’s aggressive Bitcoin strategy could potentially catapult it to the top of the global public company rankings, according to Jeff Walton, a senior analyst at the firm. In the new Financial Times documentary, “Michael Saylor’s $40 Billion Bitcoin Bet,” Walton emphasized the firm’s substantial Bitcoin reserves, which currently stand at 568,840 BTC, valued at approximately $59 billion.
Walton argued that Strategy’s unmatched Bitcoin exposure gives it a strategic edge that could eventually see it surpass the likes of Microsoft and Apple. “Strategy holds more of the best asset and most pristine collateral on the planet than any other company, by multiples,” he said.
Since late 2024, Strategy has aggressively raised $12 billion in just 50 days, funneling every dollar into Bitcoin. Walton described the feat as unprecedented, noting that it’s nearly impossible to secure such capital at such a pace in traditional finance.
Strategy’s executive chairman, Michael Saylor, remains bullish on Bitcoin, forecasting it could hit $1 million within a decade and potentially $13 million by 2045. Saylor envisions Strategy growing from a $100 billion to a $10 trillion enterprise, positioning itself as a major financial institution with extensive Bitcoin holdings.
Currently, Strategy ranks as the 151st largest public company globally, with a market cap of $117 billion. However, to fulfill Walton’s projection, it would need to overtake Microsoft’s $3.3 trillion valuation. To that end, the firm is actively expanding its capital-raising initiatives, planning to sell an additional $21 billion in common stock and double its debt issuance to $42 billion.
Meanwhile, other public companies are also increasing their Bitcoin exposure. Metaplanet recently acquired an additional 1,241 BTC for $126 million, bringing its total holdings to 6,796 BTC. Likewise, GD Culture Group Limited is planning a $300 million stock offering to fund Bitcoin and Trump Coin acquisitions.
Despite the volatility in the crypto markets, Walton believes Strategy’s substantial Bitcoin holdings and aggressive acquisition strategy could ultimately transform it into one of the world’s most valuable companies, as Bitcoin continues its climb toward record highs.
