Fortnite Just Hid a Crypto Mining Easter Egg—and It Sent a Memecoin Up 200%
Fortnite players just uncovered something wild: a secret “Dill Bits” crypto mining operation hidden across the new island. And in true Web3 fashion, the Solana-based Dill Bits (DB) token exploded right after—up 200% in one day.
Players Are Finding Hidden Mining Rigs Underground
Thanks to the April 1 update, eagle-eyed players on Oninoshima (the new Chapter 6: Season 2 map) found glowing server farms hidden underground, branded with the Dill Bits logo.
These crypto-style rigs are more than just scenery. Destroying them rewards players with Dill Bits, a special in-game currency used in shady black-market trades across the island.
Memecoin DB Rides the Hype Wave (Again)
Shortly after clips went viral, the real DB memecoin pumped hard—200% in 24 hours, jumping from obscurity to $0.0005. This isn’t its first rodeo either:
- In February, when Dill Bits first showed up, the token spiked 4,500%
- In March, a Fortnite “Rugpull” teaser sent it up 4,000% in minutes
Epic Games hasn’t officially endorsed the coin—but the in-game easter egg seems to be doing the job anyway.
Use Dill Bits for Weapons, Perks, and More
According to Fortnite’s in-game guide, Dill Bits can be traded at three black-market shops on the map for:
- Mythic & Legendary weapons
- Boons (power boosts)
- Secret upgrades
And yes, the description totally leans into the crypto meme:
“A bulky and confusing crypto coin you never knew you needed.”
The humor isn’t lost on fans, but many are actually loving the blend of gameplay and crypto culture.
Blockchain Gaming Is Booming IRL Too
Fortnite’s cheeky crypto nod comes at a time when blockchain gaming is going off the charts:
- Over 7M daily players in January across Web3 games
- opBNB is crushing it as the top chain
- Polygon just doubled gaming activity in one month
So whether Fortnite’s Dill Bits is a joke or a signal of what’s to come, one thing’s clear: crypto and gaming are colliding faster than ever.
